All TVDSB schools holding virtual graduation ceremonies

Posted On Thursday June 03, 2021

All Thames Valley schools will go ahead with virtual graduation ceremonies later this month for students in Grades 8 and 12 while the Board explores the possibility of holding additional in-person outdoor recognitions.

“We understand how important it is for students, families and staff to have an opportunity to reconnect in person to mark the end of the school year,” said Education Director Mark Fisher.

“Teachers, students and families have already put tremendous effort and time into organizing and preparing virtual ceremonies and those events will move ahead as planned,” said Director Fisher. “We need to celebrate this important milestone.

“With just weeks until the end of the school year, we are still waiting for details from the province about how in-person activities could take place while respecting existing public health guidelines,” said Director Fisher.

In the meantime, the Thames Valley Student Trustees will be reaching out to students across the school district to gather their ideas for in-person activities that could potentially take place, if aligned with Ministry guidance and public health measures.
