Code of Conduct

 

  • Jeanne Sauvé French Immersion Public School should be a place that promotes responsibility, respect, civility and academic excellence in a safe learning environment.
  • A positive school climate exists when all members of the school community feel safe, comfortable and accepted.
  • All students, staff members, and parents/guardians have a right to be safe, and to feel safe, in our school community. With this right comes the responsibility to contribute to a positive school climate.
  • Responsible citizenship involves appropriate participation in the civic life of the school community. Engaged citizens are aware of their rights, but more importantly, they accept responsibility for protecting their rights and the rights of others.

 

This Code of Conduct applies to all students, staff, parents/guardians, volunteers, and visitors to the school. It applies while on school buses and at school based activities or events, on and off school property.

  • a quality education
  •  attend school, arrive on time, and put forth their best effort every day
  •  a clean school environment
  •  treat school property, learning materials, furniture and equipment with respect
  • a safe environment free from verbal, physical, and emotional abuse or discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, color, citizenship, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, or disability
  • be considerate of the rights and feelings of others without discrimination because of race, ancestry, place of origin, color, citizenship, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, or disability
  •  be treated fairly and courteously
  • treat others fairly and courteously
  •  use computer technology
  • respect computer etiquette and safety routines in accordance with school policies
  • eat at nutrition breaks at school in a clean and orderly environment
  • maintain a clean and orderly eating environment following lunchroom rules
  • express themselves in the way they dress
  • dress in a way that is appropriate for school as described in Jeanne Sauvé’s dress code

By behaving responsibly, you have:

Irresponsible behaviour may result in:

  • increased feelings of self-worth
  • other people liking and respecting you
  • a classroom atmosphere where everyone can learn
  • participation in field trips or special activities
  • recognition through awards or rewards
  • opportunities to be positive role models
  •  reminders, with suggestions for improvement
  • isolation within the classroom
  • removal from the classroom
  • loss of some privileges
  • an interview with the principal
  • phone calls or an interview with parents/guardians
  • repair or replacement of damaged property
  • loss of bus riding privileges
  • suspensions
